TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
A new model for Technology Transfer between Academia and Industry

WellAdvisedCo, part of the team of one of its partners, supported, as Project Manager, the implementation of the PAT.Tech Project – Enhance, Approach and Transfer Technology and Scientific Knowledge. This project was a collaboration between the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo and the Citin-Center for Industrial Technological Interface and consisted of carrying out activities that speed up the transfer of technology and scientific knowledge to the industry.

Pat.Tech was a project carried out under the Support System for Collective Actions – Transfer of Scientific and Technological Knowledge (SIAC), consisting of a set of activities and developed in three phases:

Phase 1: Identification and technological assessment;

Phase 2: Promotion of knowledge and technology;

Phase 3: Organisation of official PAT.Tech Project events.

In Phase 1, we helped to perform the technical assessment of some projects developed by IPVC researchers regarding market potential and technology maturity. We analysed the processes and practices and proposed a model for the survey of mature projects and technologies. After this knowledge, we designed a new technology transfer model for IPVC. The presidency approved that and presented it to the entire IPVC community.

In Phase 2, we helped analyse the value proposition of each technology. We were given specialised training on making a pitch and approaching marketing from a “lean” perspective with a pitch deck, a pitch multimedia and a visual marketing canvas.

In Phase 3, we supported the planned events: technological and demonstration exhibitions (demo days and proofs of concept) and debate and networking events (expo nights), which included the establishment of partnerships with other Polytechnic Institutes and other entities.
